St. Paul Winter Carnival – A must attend!

Are you looking for some fun winter activities? Weather you enjoy the warmth of the indoors or the brisk chill while outdoors St. Paul offers some great fun January 27th – February 6th, 2011.  Having grown up 1/2 hour north of St. Paul, we would often head down to St. Paul to enjoy some of the festivities.

Some of my greatest memories are of the various ice castles, ice sculptures, and the FOOD!  Some of the activities are talked about often and are therefore well attended, but you can find some other great activities a bit more off of the beaten path.  One of my favorites is the annual sleigh and cutter parade.  It’s challenging just to find out when it takes place, but a must see for sure!

This years line up has some great parades including the Moon Glow Pedestrian Parade, and the Grand Day Parade.  Go to the winter carnival web page to see the full list of activities.  http://www.winter-carnival.com/

The carnival really does have something for everyone!  Families, sports and fitness enthusiasts, the 21+ crowds, fishermen and women, and  theater and art events.  I highly recommend taking the short drive to St. Paul to check out some of the great activities.

This year I might choose to check out the Riding Lawn Mower races where apparently these machines get going at speeds up to 75 miles per hour!  What???  I have always wanted to attend a hot air balloon race and the state capital grounds makes the perfect backdrop for some beautiful photographs!  Maybe ice skating is more your thing or perhaps the Cat show!  There will even be an annual jigsaw puzzle competition.  I am not making this up.  If this weekend finds you looking for something to do, a short drive to St. Paul will be just the thing.  Just ask this Forest Lake area Realtor.
